Why Respray Instead of Replace?

Garage doors take more punishment than almost anything else on a house. South-facing doors chalk and fade, metal doors pick up surface rust, and a colour that looked right twenty years ago rarely sits well next to new windows or a new front door.

The door itself is usually fine. The runners work, the panels are sound, and there is nothing wrong with it that proper preparation and the right coating will not fix — at a fraction of what a new door supplied and fitted costs.

  • Full degrease, sand and prime, with rust treated properly rather than painted over
  • Coatings chosen for the material, whether steel, aluminium, GRP or timber
  • Brickwork, drives and surrounding frames fully masked
  • Colour matched to your windows or front door if you want the set to tie together

How It Works

01

Free Survey & Quote

We come out and look at the actual door, check its condition and access, then give you a firm price. No guessing over the phone.

02

Meticulous Preparation

Degreased, sanded and primed, with any surface rust treated first. This is the stage that decides whether a finish lasts ten years or two.

03

Spray Application

Professional coatings applied on site in controlled coats, building an even, factory-smooth finish in the colour you have chosen.

04

Inspection & Clean-Up

We check the door with you, make sure it still runs sweetly, remove all masking and take our mess with us.

Garage Door Spraying FAQs

How long does a garage door respray take?

Most single and double garage doors are prepared and sprayed within a day. Larger doors, or ones with significant corrosion, occasionally need a second day.

What does it cost to respray a garage door?

It depends on the size of the door, its material and its condition, since a sound door needs far less preparation than one with surface rust. Quotes are free and given after we have seen it, and a respray is a fraction of the cost of a new door supplied and fitted.

Can you spray a metal door that has started to rust?

Yes. Surface rust is treated and primed as part of the preparation. If a door has rusted right through we will tell you honestly that replacement is the better option.

Do I need to take the door off?

No. Everything is done in place at your property and the door stays operable.

Will the finish crack when the door opens?

No. The coatings are flexible and applied thinly, so they move with the panels and runners rather than sitting rigidly on top.

Can you match my new windows?

Yes. Matching a garage door to newly sprayed anthracite windows is one of the most common jobs we do, and we can colour match precisely.

How long will it last?

With proper preparation you should expect 10+ years before it needs any attention, depending on how exposed the door is.
